Implant denture

Implant-Supported Dentures

Dentures are a great way to replace missing teeth. However, many patients desire more stability than what traditional appliances can offer.
Implant-supported dentures are attached to dental implants – small titanium posts that restore missing tooth roots in the jaw. Dr. Andy Maples offers implant dentures at West Lake Dental in Loveland, CO, so patients can feel confident and secure with their smiles.

Why should I consider upgrading my traditional denture?

Benefits of Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-retained dentures offer a number of advantages compared to traditional dentures. Patients can enjoy:

Long-Lasting Results

Dental implants are the longest-lasting tooth replacement option available. While you may need to replace your prosthesis every 10 to 15 years, implants can last a lifetime.

Optimal Aesthetics

Implant-supported dentures are remarkably lifelike. The dentures are made with high-quality materials, and the implants ensure they stay put for a confident smile.

Better Oral Health

Because dental implants actually mimic the movement of natural teeth roots, they help retain healthy jawbone tissue and reduce the risk of future bone loss.

Treatment Timeline

The overall length of your treatment with Dr. Maples can vary depending on your specific needs. However, in most cases, patients can complete the process in three to six months. Here are the general steps to anticipate when you undergo treatment at our Loveland dental office.

Dental Implant Placement

First, your dentist must place dental implants into your jawbone during a surgical procedure. If any preparatory treatments are necessary – such as extractions or bone grafts – they will be performed as well. Patients may receive a temporary denture at this time.

Recovery Period

Once the implants are placed in the jaw, the bone tissue must fuse to the surface of the implants. This process, called osseointegration, takes about three to six months and is essential for the long-term success of your treatment.

Permanent Denture Placement

When osseointegration has occurred, your final denture can be attached. Some patients might choose a type of implant-supported denture that "snaps" onto the implants for stability. It will stay firmly in place until you are ready to remove it again.

Non-Removable Treatment Options

Some patients prefer a fixed, or non-removable, restoration. If you are missing most or all of your teeth, there are a couple of different implant treatment options available. It is important to note you do not need an implant to replace every single missing tooth.

Implant-Supported Bridges

Like traditional bridges, these restorations are designed to replace consecutively missing teeth. Instead of being bonded to natural teeth, they are supported by dental implants. An entire arch of missing teeth can be restored with as few as six implant posts.

All-on-4 Dental Implants

Sometimes patients do not qualify for standard dental implant treatment due to bone loss. In these cases, All-on-4® treatment can be considered. This method uses four strategically placed implants to maximize the existing bone and support a permanent restoration.
